Monumental French Oak coving beam, circa 1530. This is a spectacular piece of fixed woodwork that was probably set above a window located under the jettied section of the house that it was part of. It is carved with great gusto with an Angel at the centre with a magnificently carved Cornucopia overflowing with fruit to either side. To each end of the beam is a cherub's head. The carved symbols on this beam were probably intended to portray an allegorical representation of a blessing on the house for fertility. There are some glue repairs to shrinkage cracks, and two later fixing mounts applied to the back.
