Dark 17th century Charles II console with ornate carvings and two side drawers. This original console represents true English heritage with its traditional design and could be used as a hallway or display table.

Charles II took the throne in 1660 after years of exile in France and The Netherlands bringing with him passion for architecture, design and engaging the most skilful craftsmen to create vibrant and confident forms. The furniture of this period is curvaceous and rich creating a graceful sense of movement and was often decorated with gold and silver finishes.

The wooden carvings have natural motifs of flowers, leaves and fruits standing on spiral columns which production was refined and became central in this period. These designs define a short period of 25 years of British history during the reign of Charles II.
