The tall mahogany veneered round topped glazed case has a mirrored back and glazed arch front door. The base is fitted with a freestanding large brass beat scale.
The 10½ inch original painted white dial with Roman numerals is signed John Drescher 66, MYTON GATE, HULL.
The 8 day double fusee movement strikes on a fixed coiled gong. The shouldered rectangular plates are separated with four ringed pillars, and the movement sits on a wooden seatboard which slots into the case. The wood and steel rod pendulum with a polished brass boss is a nice feature of this clock.
The style of the plates, pillars and hands lead us to a date of the 1840s for this particular clock.
