Original vintage railway poster promoting Deeside by LNER - Deeside raising the standard at Braemer 1715 / travel from King's Cross London / London and North Eastern Railway of England and Scotland. Artwork by the English painter, William Barnes Wollen (1857-1936). Historical image depicting a scene from the failed Jacobite Rising of 1715 of John Erskine, the Earl of Mar (1675-1732), raising the standard flag at Braemar on 6 September in support of the effort to regain the throne for the House of Stuart (Prince James Francis Edward Stuart aka the Old Pretender; 1688-1766). Braemar is located on the River Dee in the Scottish Highlands (near Balmoral Castle - now aka Royal Deeside). The London and North Eastern Railway operated train services from 1923-1948.
