A most atmospheric scene of a fishing boat in the choppy seas off Kings Lynn, Norfolk. A fine watercolour which I am of the opinion is by Arthur John Trevor Briscoe, but due to it being unsigned I can only attribute it. A lovely painting for the lovers of the power of the sea. I have priced this painting taking into consideration its own merits, disregarding the attribution. Titled lower left ‘Lynn Fishing Boats’, presented within a good quality limed oak glazed frame with lighter wood slip. The colour of the frame compliments the colours of the scene beautifully.

Size to include frame: H57.5cm L72.5cm
Arthur John Trevor Briscoe was born near Liverpool in Birkenhead. He was educated at the famous Shrewsbury school and had his art trading at the Academie Julian in Paris and The Slade School in London. As he was a keen Yachtsman, he wrote a handbook of sailing. This painting is classic of his style, depicting nautical scenes from a different, fresh approach. He even went to the trouble of having a boat built especially for the purpose of keeping him at sea in really bad weather.
