This charming bronze is titled "Ingratitude" and is by an Italian sculptor called Lucchesi. The subject is a little girl, barefoot, but in a smock and bonnet, playing with a little bird which she is trying to feed. The bird is obviously reacting badly to this treatment as it has bitten the little girl on the finger, causing her to cry out. This is the moment the artist has captured so well. The piece, which is well cast and patinated, stands on a low marble base, was made C.1880.
