Item Provenance & History

Originally sold to Dr Burney on 23rd December 1826.

Dr Charles Burney was the son of the well known musicologist of the same name who ran a school in Greenwich, and Burney Street is named after him. Number 930 is described in the Vulliamy Clock Book as "new pattern of the 1st" and was Vulliamys response to the Rococo revival fashion that had taken such a hold in fashionable circles in the 1820s.
