French Porcelain mantel clock with patinated branches decorated with finely worked flowers. Porcelain study of a Gentleman and his lover with their two dogs in a rural scene beautifully decorated and of fine quality inset into an ebonised base which supports the whole piece. Eight day drum movement amongst the flowers with hour and half strike on a silvered bell. Enamel dial with Roman numerals and gilded hands, signed ‘Baltazar, Horologer Du Roy’. C.1870.

‘Watchmakers and clockmakers of the world’ by Brian Loomes lists Baltazar as working in Paris from 1870-1900 and as being Horologer Du Roy.
