An early 19th century mahogany Longcase clock by William Coulie of Marykirk, with circular dial and two-train movement, the case being boxwood and ebony strung and with reeded quarter column corners.Deadbeat escapement.
Wm. Coullie, Marykirk not recorded in the reference books but he could be the son of James Coullie who was a watch & clockmaker in Montrose, Angus 1780-1790. (7 miles south of Marykirk).
This clock can be dated by reference to the dial false plate which is marked R. Hipkiss. Richard Hipkiss was a dial maker known to be working in Birmingham 1805-10 (possibly up to 1816
