A lovely scene of this famous Wroxham Broad in the late 19th Century when it was a great area of natural beauty with hardly any yachts. Presented within its original gilt gesso glazed frame which is rather tatty, gilt mount with title and artists name dates 1845-1925.

Indistinctly inscribed verso roughly reading: Evening, nature shetok by the late Robert Gallon butified, Paulsewall with Gallery label for: S Coombes, 175, Strand. The painting itself is in good original untouched condition.

In lovey untouched original condition, a true depiction of how this beautiful broad used to be.
Robert Gallon, landscape painter lived in London. He travelled throughout the British Isles to paint numerous subjects which included views of England, Scotland and Wales.
Robert Gallon's paintings varied in style, realistic, similar to that of Benjamin Williams Leader and George Vicat Cole with broad, loose brush strokes to extremely delicately textured techniques.
He actively exhibited during the years 1868 - 1903 at London Galleries, the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists.
The highest price paid for Robert Gallon’s work was 40,886.00 dollars depicting a woman and child crossing a bridge which was sold at Christies Kings street in the Victorian pictures sale in the year 2000


Wroxham Broad is an area of open water alongside the River Bure near the village of Wroxham in Norfolk, England within The Broads National Park. The broad has an area of 85 acres and lies to the west of the Bure, with two navigable openings between river and broad. The village and broad lie in an area of fairly intensive agriculture, with areas of wet woodland adjoining the broad and river
