Mahogany & Red Tortoiseshell Brass & Ebony Veneered Inkstand
The stand is double sided and would suit a partner’s desk or table. Central ormolu carrying handle of rococo form flanked by a pair of cut glass ink pots with gilt tops. To the sides a pair of pen trays. The frieze with shaped skirt is decorated with tortoiseshell and boulle and is supported by four cast paw feet. The boulle marquetry decoration is inspired by Louis XV1 and is probably the work of an emigré Frenchman working in London
