Early 19th century Regency mahogany twin pedestal dining table. This table is a very impressive scale which might not be immediately apparent from the photographs. The top is made of large sections of very finely figured mahogany with reeding around the double edged top, typical of Irish furniture made by Williams, Mack and Gibton of Dublin. The pedestals are strong yet restrained in design. There are very interesting icanthus swags to the top of each "Regency knee" which fall to one side à la Flock of Seagulls. The shape of the legs is very fine, with thin ankles that run very close to the floor before raising slightly back up to the very detailed hairy paw feet. The timber has faded to a very fine golden colour while retaining a very high degree of patina. Please ask for restoration options, this table can be repolished if required and extra leaves can be fitted to extend the length.
