A late 17th century cylindrical Sealing Wax Case, maker's mark only 'DS' with crown above and pellet below, unattributed, London circa 1690. The cylinder engraved with a figure amidst foliate scrolls, the ends cut with cyphers: on the lid a contemporary cypher 'WR' and on the base a later cypher 'ER' in script lettering. The lid released by means of a steel spring catch secured with a screw through the body.
Very good. The lid has a slight tendency to spring open if knocked.
