A mid-19th century Sheffield Plate novelty Claret trolley, having two elaborately gadrooned coasters set upon a base with spoked wheels, the front part piveting upon an axle, the pulling handle with finely cast and chased vine decoration.

Bearing maker's stamps to the underside.

Sheffield plate is a world famous process of fusing silver and copper, which was invented by Thomas Boulsover around 1740. The uncertainty of this date is due to the fact that no patent was registered at the time. Whilst a wide variety of household utensils of this kind was produced, this double coaster trolly is rather unusual as well as entertaining and most certainly adds flair to any dinner table.
