The Tuscan Order in Classical architecture has a very simple form, namely a plain, slightly swollen shaft and a simple capital and base. It is a simplified Roman adaptation of the Greek Doric - an almost identical form, but with a fluted shaft. The Tuscan order is proportionally similar to the Doric, however, it is much plainer. The Tuscan order is the most substantial looking of all Classical column designs.
