Circa 1870
A parallel for this anatomical model can be found in an Italian 16 th century oil painting of the same sectioned view of the bony masses of the face by Fabricius ab Aquapen Dente ( 1533 - 1619 ) a professor at Padua University . More than fifteen eminent Renaissance anatomists lived and worked in Padua during the 16 th and 17 th centuries and all of them identified anatomical structures in the human body which still bear their name today .
