She wears a blue dress with fine lace bodice, her neatly plaited hair decorated with a spray of pink and violet flowers
Set in the original gold bracelet clasp frame

This is an enchanting portrait and brilliantly shows off the fashionable costume of the 1765-1770's

Scouler was born in Edinburgh, his father was a harpsichord maker and his cousin John Brown was also a miniaturist. By 1768 both cousins had moved to London. He exhibited at the Royal Academy for every year between 1768 and 1784.
