A fine early 19th century Derby tea cup and saucer painted by George Robertson. The cup has a rim decorated with a deep band of gold on both the inside and out above a white body decorated with six pendant gilt leaves between gilt lines on the white, and extending to the base.

Opposite the plain gilt loop handle is an oval reserve with a finely painted 'black on moonlight' river gorge over which spans a single arch stone bridge on which stands two figures, either side of the river are tall trees.

The saucer is similarly decorated with twelve gilt leaves and a circular panel depicting another river scene with a thatched boathouse and in the distance behind a tree lined bank, a church and other buildings.

Marks: Crown cross batons, six dots over script D in blue
On the cup in script: At Panmure, Scotland
Saucer: On the River Tay, Newborough, Scotland
