18th century single compartment teacaddy made in Holland from exotic materials bought home by their Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie, VOC, ("United East India Company"), namely ivory, tortoiseshell, (rendered typically red), and ebony. Having found it's way to England, a small silver plaque is inset to the lid engraved "GREEN" to identify the type of tea.
