A fine and unusual Regency rosewood whatnot of stylised lyre form; the shelves mounted on boldly-curved supports, surmounted by an angled openwork gallery; the sides with triple gilt-brass vertical rods headed by pine cones. The base fitted with a mahogany-lined drawer and on inset sabre legs. No other example of this distinctive form appears to be recorded. Circa 1815.
