A fine Japanese oshi-e panel depicting the samurai Minamoto no Yoshiie at The Nakoso Barrier, pausing underneath a flowering cherry tree to compose a poem about the blossom, another samurai holds the reins of his horse, in front one warrior adjusts his sandal and behind more follow on foot, one carries a yari (large bladed spear) another carries a large box like backpack and the last holds the Nobori (flag).
The picture is housed in an impressive Japanese wood frame with multimetal hangings.

The picture is made using an ancient Japanese handicraft called oshi-e, the images are made from folded fabric, the craft originally came from using up scraps of kimono. This piece is the finest example of the craft we know of, each cherry blossom petal has been individually made.
Excellent, some minor fading due to age
A similar smaller panel is held at the kiyomizu sannenzaka museum, and was exhibited at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford in 2012/13
