Both vases have been fitted with antiqued brass plates and adjustable height dual fittings with finals. The vases are decorated in two separate panels and a border painted with chrysanthemums. The panels show carps in a stream and a phoenix or bird of paradise in the other. Typical imari colours: Tomato red, blue, black, orange and gilt highlights. One of the vases has some craquelure on the glaze surface. For an identical vase see Ducal collection Palazzo Pitti, Florence.
