A Fine Pair of Gilt-Bronze Chenets Modelled as Recumbent Sphinx after the Model by Guillaume de Grof.

This fine and unusual pair of chenets in the form of recumbent Sphinx are based on the eighteenth century model by the Flemish sculptor Guillaume (Willem) de Grof circa 1715, for the Munich 'Residenz', the former Royal Palace of Bavaria. They now reside in the collection of the Bavarian National Museum in Munich.
