A fine quality Georgian mahogany longcase clock with an arched silvered and finely engraved dial signed to the arch J Williamson, Edinburgh. The typical Edinburgh style case veneered in beautifully figured flame mahogany with boxwood stringing, of good colour and patina. The swan-neck pediment hood surmounted by a fluted cast brass finial, below fluted columns with brass capitals and decorative satinwood silk backed frets "Edinburgh Panels". The long trunk door with well figured flame veneer, flanked by quarter turned reeded corners, inlaid box base with bracket feet.

The twelve inch break arch silvered and engraved dial signed to the arch J Williamson, Edinburgh. Subsidiary seconds dial and ringed calendar dial above VI, with circular aperture.

The high quality movement is of eight day duration with four knopped pillars, an anchor escapement and strikes the hours on a bell.

The original cast iron weights and brass bob pendulum.

Finely fretted and wrought blued steel hands of serpentine design.
Excellent original condition with the movement fully restored by our FBHI and Clock Company awarded horologist, 2 year mechanical guarantee.
Maker: John Williamson Edinburgh - Apprenticed to Turnbull & Aitchinson, High Street Edinburgh 28 May 1778. In business at Blackfriars Wynd in 1800 and 279 Cowgate in 1825.
