A fine pen, ink, pencil and watercolour heightened with gum-arabic three-quarter length portrait of a gentleman wearing top hat and day coat. Within a period mahogany veneered frame, the work by Richard Dighton (British 1796-1880), one of the three artist sons of Robert Dighton. Richard was significant to British portraiture during the 19th century, carrying on from the tradition of his father but later developing portraiture through photography from his studio in Cheltenham. English circa 1850.
The frame, which may be original, is labelled to the reverse for Lomax's Repository of Arts etc etc..
