An exceptionally good silver caster of octagonal tapered baluster form. The body decorated with all over bright cut engraving of flowers and leaves. The pierced lid with intricate patterns and the finial with detailed engraving. The domed octagonal foot with a band of arabesques. One side with a crest of a lion rampant.

Clearly marked for London 1718 by Charles Adams and the Britannia Silver marks to the base. Britannia marks and makers mark to the lid.

This is an extremely good quality caster of fine workmanship and in superlative condition. No repairs, splits or damage. Hallmarks clearly struck with no wear. An elegant and beautiful piece of very early silver of large size and very good weight.
