An important early 18th century walnut bureau bookcase of fine colour retaining its original brass handles, escutcheons and carrying handles, the broken-arched pediment centred by a later carved giltwood cartouche, above two doors with pilasters with their original rectangular bevelled mirror plates enclosing a fitted interior with adjustable upper shelves and pigeon-holes above a central cupboard door flanked by folio compartments above three short drawers, the fall revealing a fitted interior of drawers and pigeon-holes centred by a fitted door, below are two short and three long graduated drawers on their original bracket feet.

A similar bookcase is illustrated in 'Metropolitan Furniture of the Georgian years' by F. Lewis Hinckley, plate 7; and a further one, possibly from the same workshop, is illustrated in L. Synge, ‘Mallett Millennium’, London, 1999, p.51, illus 46.
