A fine George III period Sycamore, Mahogany, Burr-Yew and marquetry envelope tripod table. The square crossbanded top with four triangular hinged flaps above concealed pull out slides, opening to reveal conforming banding with trellis and floral marquetry centred by a rosette roundel, on a tripod base with spade feet.
Very good condition, no breaks or splices to legs. Excellent colour.
The contents of Glyn Cywarch, the property of Lord Harlech.
A similar but earlier table attributed to Mayhew & Ince sold at Sothebys London, May 2015, lot 226.
The trellis, roundels and flower head marquetry in this table are all comparable to work executed by Mayhew and Ince who were working in London between 1759 to 1809
