A Gilt-Bronze Mounted Topographical Vase

The vase is painted with a view of the Wilhems Palais after the watercolours of Carl Daniel Freydanck from 1840-42, the reverse with a view of a Neo Gothic castle; both within gilt laurel crowned cartouches reserved on a royal blue ground. The lower body has a gilt moulded scrolling serpent and band of stiff leaves on a fluted blue, white and gilt circular foot and base. The vase is raised on a gilt bronze stand with C-scrolls and rocaille decoration. The body of the vase has two loop handles with gilt leaf terminals and a gilt-bronze cover with a band of vines and fluted finial.
