From the 1830s or so there occurred the first revival of interest in Chippendale's 'Directory' and his take on the Rococo. The carving of the mirrors from this time is usually not quite as fine as the originals from about seventy years earlier, but neither had the mass production techniques of the Victorians yet taken over. This is hand carved wood - not composition made from moulds. A lot of eye appeal for the money.

We have regilded the frame using the water-gilding technique and left it bright, but it can be dulled down if the effect is a bit too bling for your taste.
