A gold and enamel snuff box, maker's mark FJ, Hanau circa 1805.
Rectangular with cut corners, the lid with an enamel medallion depicting a lady seated by a river bank unveiling her beauty to a suitor, writing the name P. L. La. [?] in the sand.
The ground, sides and base with blue and black enamels stripes alternating with white enamel sprigs, a star at each corner.
The box bears French prestige marks including maker's mark FJ.
