The case in the form of a putto pushing a barrel-laden wheelbarrow fitted with watch movement and gold dial with foliate scrolls and Roman numerals, the whippet with ruby eyes and diamond collar running along, the yoke over the putto's shoulders set with diamonds, a gold urn on the wheelbarrow with diamond-set stopper serving as watch key, mounted on a green hardstone base

The design of this unusual timepiece is based on the well-known silver mustard pots by Antoine-Sebastien Durand, Paris, 1750, made for Mme. de Pomadour, now in the Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon
