As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this fine quality Japanese satsuma vase by arguably the most wanted maker of Satsuma wares, YABU MEIZAN (1853-1934), the delightful vase made in around 1910 when Meizans work started to become less fussy , by returning to the Japanese taste the decoration was simple and often just a traditional Japanese scene, in this instance you will see two birds resting in a Japanese maple tree ,the artist has used striking autumnal colours combined with high quality gilding to great effect, the vase is quite large and chunky for this type of ware , signed Yabu Meizan in a gilt seal to the underside , a cracking addition to your Japanese collection .

The condition is perfect , it looks to have rarely been cleaned therefore the gilding is very crisp with just some minimal staining to the crackleur on the top shoulders.
