The well proportioned slender case constructed of beautifully figured quarter sawn oak. The breakarch hood surmounted by a single gilded wooden finial. The hood door flanked by turned pillars terminating with gilded capitals, corresponding turned pillars to the rear with gilded capitals. The long trunk door crossbanded with walnut and the original high quality brass hinges. Box base with fielded and walnut crossbanded panel surmounted on ogee bracket feet.

The arched brass dial is of elegant design with finely cast ornate spandrel mounts to the corners and a well executed finely engraved dial centre, engraved subsidiary seconds zone, silvered mouth type calendar zone with unusual red and black wax engraved disc calendar. The silvered chapter ring has bold Roman numerals and an outer minute circle with Arabic numerals at five minute intervals. The arch features a revolving moonphase zone depicting a blue sky background with gold stars and the two moon faces, The strap to the arch is finely engraved with the makers name Geo Goodall Abberford and number 209. Goodall was one of the few Northern makers who numbers his work.

The fully restored high quality movement is of eight day duration, the plates united by four knopped pillars, anchor escapement and rack strikes the hours on a single bell.

Finely fretted and wrought blued steel hands.
Fine original condition with the movement fully restored with 2 year mechanical guarantee.
Maker: George goodall - Micklefield & Abberford 1760 -1790. Clocks made at Micklefield numbered 29 and 81, known clocks made in Abberford numbered 282 and 631 (NV Dinsdale - The Old Clockmakers of Yorkshire 1946).
