The stamps to the backplate, most noticeably the style of tight arrow for the hand setting direction and the style of lettering used for Hands, along with the dial layout, suggests that this clock was made in the workshops of the top Paris carriage clock maker Drocourt.
The Gorge case came into fashion in the late Victorian period and was primarily used by the top makers and roulant blanc makers to house the best quality movements.
