Each modelled in traditional coloured garb with decorative costumes and hats and all except one holding an object such as a musical instrument, a tray with small cups with covers and a female figure carrying a long fish. All the figures are standing on small wooden pedestals with floral decorations around the edges.

In Piedmont the Savoy passion for chinoiserie in the 18th century (but earlier, too) comes largely through imitation of fashion in French and other European courts. Chinese-style wallpapers, fabrics and furnishing are plentiful in Savoy palaces and residences including the Royal Palace in Turin (figure 1), the Stupinigi Palazzina and Villa Regina (part of the Venaria Reale estate).
Good
According to the distinguished furniture historian, Enrico Colle, the figures are probably from a Chinese cabinet in one of the Piedmontese palaces from the last quarter of the 18th century.
