Item Description / Dealer Expertise
Decorated in the finest gold togidashi with a recumbent stag holding a branch of reishi fungus in its mouth and looking up at two wheeling bats, all contained in a lunette formed by a surround of gold togidashi with ragged outer edge. The interior is lacquered vermilion, the underside of the cover with a small temple in a mountain landscape, the base with pine trees and clouds depicted in gold lacquer. The fittings comprise an unusual ink-stone with cut corners, and a silver mizu-ire with shakudo and gilt details in the form of two small drums.
