A finely figures bow fronted Sheraton period chest of graduated drawers raised on splayed legs and fitted with later Regency bronze handles.

This chest of drawers is a very fine example of furniture made in Jersey, the Channel Islands. Due to taxation, Jersey became a hub for cabinet making in the late 18th / early 19th century. If this chest of drawers was made in England it would have an oak carcass, but in this instance it is made of chestnut, a wood that is often used in France where there are substantial chestnut plantations.

This particular chest is however a very nice example with exceptional veneers and colour.
