Cast Iron pieces became very popular in France towards the mid 19th century. The best of these companies was the firm Val D'Osne, opened in 1836 by Jean-Pierre Victor Andre. The company particpated in many exhibitions, and was awarded a number of medals, including a grand medal at one of the exhibitionsThe company was known for its quality of work and the value of these antiques continue to rise.
