The vase is decorated all over with finely painted floral sprigs and sprays in the deutsche-blumen manner centred by cartouches containing finely painted hunting scenes. The vase has finely cast gilt-bronze lion head handles and is surmounted by a domed cover with an acorn finial and supported by a pierced gilt-bronze foot raised on a square section re-entrant base.
'Deutsche Blumen' or German flowers, was a style of porcelain decoration consisting of naturalistically painted flowers appearing individually or in bouquets. The style became widely popular in Europe after they appeared on Meissen porcelain from about 1740.
