A Large Kingwood, Marquetry and Gilt-Bronze Louis XV Style Display Cabinet of bombe form, with a large glazed central door framed by scrolling foliate borders. The lower central cartouche of the cabinet is filled with flower marquetry and flanked by two similar side panels. The interior is covered with a beige velvet, two glass shelves and one wooden shelf. The corners of the cabinet are applied with a tied ribbon banding, surmounted by a scroll leaf cresting flanked by urns.

The cabinet stands on cabriole legs, terminating in scroll feet.

Kingwood was a pre-eminent cabinet wood in France, so popular with Louis XIV and Louis XV that it became known as kingwood. Native to Brazil, it is similar to rosewood although somewhat paler and finer.
