A large pair of Ashinaga-tenaga candlestick holders on inlaid wood bases.

Ashinaga-tenaga are a pair of Yokai (supernatural beings) from Japanese folklore said to be found in Kyushu. They are often said to be from two countries, Ashinaga-Jin (Long legs country) and Tenaga-Jin (Long arms country) they live in forests near lakes and will often go fishing together, working as a team. Tenaga sits on Ashinaga's back and uses his long arms to scoop up fish while Ashinaga's long legs wade through the deep water. The sighting of these Yokai is said to precede bad changes in the weather.
