Now in a late 18th – early 19th century frame.
In the 18th and 19th century the Glossy Ibis was a common visitor to Britain but they are now only occasionally sighted in the south of England.
This painting is from a group of life-size paintings of water birds done by an unknown artist, R.Leach, that are dated between 1804 and 1807.
