The rectangular top is made from five, planks of yew, cut from a small tree with sapwood ends and reddish tones. The table stands on bold, column and ball turned legs, joined by baluster and block turned side stretchers. The lopers have old repairs where the table has been dismantled and, unsually, the iron foils are original with the original fixings. One toe has been replaced. This table bears all the characteristics of those from Palma, Mallorca. Exceptional original colour and patina. Second half of the 17th century.

Spanish tables in this plank top form with iron foils are generally made from walnut, and this piece is one of a small group of yewwood tables that were made in Palma. This table bears all the characteristics of the Palma tables; the use of yew the narrow plank construction, the ball and column turnings and the straight iron foils. The colour and patina on this table have matured to an exceptional quality, and this table exhibits a period surface that is unsurpassed.
Country Life 15th November, 2007, Robert Graves study in Deya has a Spanish table in walnut with similar turnings which he used as a desk writing for six hours a day, almost every day completing 80 books.
