A George III Period rosewood occasional table, the inlaid octagonal top upon s painted stem with splayed tripod legs.

Rosewood exudes a sweet, strong smell which persists for a number of years after harvesting it, lending the timber its charming name. It has historically been a valuable and expensive good due to its durability, elegance and warm palette. It is a heavy wood which polishes very well, as can be observed in the exquisite, shiny, legs of the table.
