The circular enamel dial is signed Coteau and J S Breant/à Paris on a blue enamel plaque, suspended above the hands of the dial. This has black Roman numerals indicating the hours and small black numerals indicating the days of the month. It has a circular movement, with flat-bottomed plates, a counter-wheel strike and silk suspended pendulum.

The clock is mounted in a marble and ormolu framework, formed as a classical portico, which stands on a white marble plinth and is formed as a four column composition with applied ormolu swags and tassels and corded and beaded twisted roping. The front of the pediment is hung with beaded swags and ropes and has a pierced balustrade; the top is formed as a gilded canopy topped with marble ceiling and gilded plume.
Jacques Thomas Breant became a maître in 1783 and died in 1807.
