The table was made by John Thurston in 1894 (original bill of sale included) for a client in Guildford, Surrey, no expense was spared on the timber, construction or build, the invoice states the design is Louis XVI style. Each carved leg is fitted with an ornate panel which is replicated on the cushion edges in the form a smaller carved boss while an egg and dart bead runs along the top and bottom.
The mahogany cushions are a special order called "The Adamant cushion", in order to attain optimal playing conditions a slate section has been inserted into the inside edge of each cushion, this makes the cushion extremely sturdy and the ball response is improved.
