A magnificent and important George III marquetry and parquetry serpentine fronted commode attributed to Pierre Langlois. Of exceptional quality, with inlaid trellis pattern decoration to panels on the top, sides and the two shaped front doors. All aspects further decorated with diagonal cross-banding, that of the front doors further inlaid with ribbon decoration. In the French taste. The whole with ormolu mounts of the finest quality - these were almost certainly made by the brother-in-law of Pierre Langlois - Dominique Jean. The double doors opening to reveal a single fitted shelf.
