Galanterie or toilet boxes were (next to the mirror) the main part of toilet services. One complete service contained 25 boxes in different dimensions storing powders, pomades, sponges and rouge for the "Grande Dames". The present model which is one of the so called "big toilet boxes" shows the timeless Kakiemon decor with "Indianische Blumen" (indian flowers) and idyllic garden scenes.
Today there are only six comparative pieces remain. The present one is the only one that bears the Johanneums number "339.W"
