A George III Period mahogany chest of drawers of good colour, the overhanging top above four graduated cockbeaded drawers, each with brass swan neck handles and raised on bracket feet.

Mahogany was the most prominent wood used in George III furniture. It was favoured for its exotic colour, strength and even grain. The elegance, grace and simplicity of Georgian furniture can be observed in this clean, symmetrical chest of drawers. The decoration of this piece is reduced to the brass handles and slight curve of the bracket feet; otherwise it is unadorned, confident and practical.
